This article is by no means reporting the results of a scientific study, but it does introduce an interesting use for coconut oil, which has gained popularity for many uses over the last few years.  Apparently some people are swishing it in the mouth for 20 minutes to aid in removing bacteria from the teeth and gums.  This also, some say, is helpful in other ways.

This article relates the results of a study on mouth bacteria.  It turns out that there are 400 different species of them (or probably more as new studies come out).  They are distinct enough that the scientists predict that they can be used to distinguish different ethnicities, based strictly on the bacteria types.
